HAIR REMOVAL
Laser hair removal can take anywhere from five (to remove of hair on the lip) to forty five minutes (to remove hair on the back and shoulders) depending on the area treated. During the treatment, you may experience a slight tingling sensation that most patients tolerate well. We will also cool your skin during the treatments, which helps to reduce any discomfort. Whether your hair removal takes a few minutes or the better part of an hour, you can plan to return to work or to your normal daily routine immediately. However, it is important that the treated areas are shielded from the sun. You may use a sun block for this protection.
The laser achieves hair removal by destroying hair at its source, the base of the follicle under the skin. The laser will shoot a concentrated beam of light that passes through your surface skin and is preferentially absorbed at the base of the hair shaft. Once the base of the hair follicle heats up, the ability to grow new hair is destroyed.
Only hair in the active phase of growth can be effectively and permanently removed. Only a fraction of your hair follicles are in the active phase at any given time. Thus, most people need multiple (usually 3-6) treatments to get the desired permanent effect.
The risks involved with laser hair removal are minimal. Your eyes will be shielded to avoid injury. There is a small risk of pigment changes; we rarely see any blisters. Physicians are trained to calibrate the laser to each individual’s skin type because everyone reacts differently to the beam. You will be provided with any further information you need during your consultation regarding lasers and any risks associated with laser.
ABOUT THE PROCEDURE
During your initial consultation the Dr. will take a brief medical history in order to make sure the treatments are safe for you. Your specific problems and desired outcome will be discussed, and a treatment plan specifically designed for you will be recommended. If you wish, you may start your first treatment immediately! Of course, you may return at a later time if that is more convenient. Most treatments take 20 to 30 minutes. Five minutes prior to treatment we may apply a topical anesthetic to relieve the minor discomfort sometimes experienced. We will also give you eye shields to protect your eyes from the flashes of light. Immediately after the treatment you may apply makeup and resume your normal activities.
Return visits are scheduled every 6-8 weeks for best results. We recommend that you continue to use sun block in between treatment sessions.
FAQs
Is laser hair removal permanent?
We only use lasers that are approved for permanent hair reduction by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This means most patients will achieve long-term, stable reduction in the number of hairs re-growing in the treated areas. The amount of permanent reduction increases with the number of treatments. Occasionally, you may have a few hairs re-grow over a period of time, and we charge only a nominal fee for their removal.
What does it feel like?
Most patients feel a mild sting for a fraction of a second. We use a variety of skin cooling devices and, occasionally a topical anesthetic cream, to reduce or eliminate any discomfort.
How long do the treatments take?
We can treat some areas in only a few minutes. Others, such as the back or legs, require 20-40 minutes. For example, the underarms or bikini lines take only fifteen minutes.
How many treatments are necessary?
This is very important to understand. Hair goes through three stages of development. Only in the active stage will the laser affect hair removal. At any given time, only some of your hairs are in the active stage. For this reason, it is necessary to treat an area at least three times to see the best and longest lasting results. Most areas need to be treated 4-6 times.
Is laser hair removal safe?
Lasers have been in existence for more than thirty-five years and are used by a wide range of medical specialists. Since only light is used to remove hair, it is totally non-invasive. Your eyes will be shielded during the treatment. While there is a slight chance of skin irritation and pigment changes, these are rare due to the type of lasers we use and the training of our staff.
Do you offer financing?
Yes. Care Credit and we usually charge by session. We recommend packages to save money. No prepaid packages. You pay per visit so you work with-in your budget. Price per sessions range from $75-$250.
PRE AND POST TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS:
Pre-Treatment Guidelines
It is necessary for you to have one or two day’s hair growth so that areas treated are recognizable and there is hair to absorb the laser light. It is not possible if hair has been plucked or waxed. So, do not pluck or wax for at least a month prior to your treatment.
Please make sure you remove or wash off all make-up or lotions prior to treatment.
If you are currently or have been on Accutane or Gold therapy, please inform the physician doing your treatment.
Do not actively tan several days prior to your treatment.
Please notify the physician doing your treatment of any changes in your medication. Post-Treatment Guidelines
Please use sun block on all treated areas after your treatment and avoid prolonged direct sun exposure or tanning.
The treated areas should be treated like mild sunburn with moisturizers, etc. Avoid bathing or washing in very hot water. Also avoid irritating medications or chemicals such as Retin-A, Benzoyl peroxide, glycolics, or astringents.
You may notice your hair continuing to grow after the treatment. This is normal and after a week or two, these hairs will fall out.

Spider and Varicose Vein Treatment
It is estimated that over 50 million Americans are bothered by the appearance of veins on their thighs, calves, and ankles. These veins can either be small, thin capillaries (spider veins) or larger veins that we call reticular veins. The very largest veins are called varicose veins. There are many factors that contribute to the development of these unsightly veins including pregnancy, weight gain, prolonged standing, and even genetics. Spider veins form when excess blood backs up in the blood stream. The body releases this pressure by developing new veins. Not only are spider veins unsightly, but they can also cause aching, swelling, burning, and night cramps in the legs. Reticular veins are those blue veins that lie well below the skin’s surface and are larger than the spider veins. They often are the source of spider veins and must also be removed in order to achieve a long-term result in your treatment. Unlike prior lasers, we can treat any skin type and even tanned skin. Most treatments last only 45-60 minutes. During your initial consultation, we will be able to estimate the cost of your treatments and tailor the treatments to your needs. As always, consultations are always free.
ABOUT THE PROCEDURE
Laser Vein Therapy
Laser vein removal is surprisingly easy, fast, and effective. The laser light achieves vein removal by destroying the vein without burning the skin above. The laser will shoot a concentrated beam of light that passes through your surface skin and is preferentially absorbed by the hemoglobin in the vein. When the light is absorbed, it is converted to heat, a process that is similar to what happens inside a car that has been sitting in the sun. As the sun shines light into the car, the seats, wheel, and dashboard absorb the light. It is then converted to heat, making them hot to touch. The same happens to the vein. As the vein is gently heated (a process that occurs in 50 milliseconds or 1/20th of a second), the walls of the vein collapse and thus blood flow is stopped. Over a period of three to four weeks, the vein is reabsorbed by the body and disappears.
The use of a laser for vein removal requires knowledge and expertise. Our Dr. is trained to use the best laser and the proper settings for each size vein. During your treatment, you will feel a slight discomfort as the laser fires. The skin above the veins will have a reddish, cat-scratch appearance. This generally disappears over the next two days. Sometimes we apply a local anesthetic cream over the proposed treatment area if you find the sensation is uncomfortable. You can expect to return immediately to your normal daily activities, although we do recommend elevation of the treated areas that day to enhance the treatment’s success.
The risks associated with laser vein therapy are minimal and similar to the risks of laser hair removal. Your eyes will be shielded during the treatments. There is a small risk of pigment changes, which can be reduced by avoiding prolonged sun exposure during the treatments. Our physicians will fully inform you of the risks associated with laser vein therapy and answer any questions during your initial consultation. Finally because we use state-of-the-art cooling systems, you will find your treatment’s low risk and relatively pain-free.
FAQs
Are these vein treatments permanent?
The removal of spider and reticular leg veins is not an exact science. Most patients achieve a significant reduction in the appearance of their veins and are very satisfied with the treatments. Of course, aging continues the moment the treatment ends and other factors such as standing and genetics continue. We recommend a single yearly treatment to “clean up” any new veins that appear.
Are the treatments painful?
Most patients describe a tingling sensation during the brief time the laser is actually firing. However, because we offer cooling systems and topical anesthetic cream, our patients are quite comfortable during their treatments.
Are the treatments safe?
As in laser hair removal, there are few uncommon risks associated with both laser and vein injection therapy. These include pigment changes and blistering. However, because our physicians are specially trained in the use of the lasers and injection therapy, the occurrence of these events is rare. Additionally, your eyes will be shielded during all treatments.
How long do the treatments take and how many treatments will I Need?
Each treatment session generally lasts 45 minutes. We can treat a significant number of veins during that session. Typically, you can expect to need two to three sessions to achieve the appearance you desire. Of course, you can stop treatments at any time or continue with additional treatments should you desire.
ROSACEA THERAPY
PRICING:
[ $175 - $200 ] per session
What is it?
Rosacea is a disorder of the face that results in redness, prominent blood vessels, swelling of pores, and skin eruptions similar to acne. Also called “adult acne”, the cause of rosacea is unknown. It occurs most often in fair skinned people, particularly those who blush easily. Women are more commonly affected, although men are more severely affected. Symptoms usually begin to appear between ages 30 to 50, and the disorder is most often seen in middle-aged or older people.
The Signs of rosacea are:
- Redness of the face or cheeks similar to a rash
- A tendency to flush or blush easily
- Increased vascularity (broken capillaries) of the face
- A red, often enlarged nose
- Acne-like skin eruptions
- A burning or stinging sensation of the face
While rosacea cannot be cured, its symptoms can be controlled and your appearance can be treated. The best way to control rosacea is to avoid the triggering events such as prolonged periods of sun exposure, nicotine, caffeine, and alcohol. Heat and rich foods can also contribute to the effects of rosacea. While topical creams may help control rosacea, the best way to improve your appearance is with light-based treatments such as intense pulsed light (IPL) and Laser Genesis. Treatments must be individualized depending on the severity of your condition and the symptoms you want treated. Armed with a variety of laser and light-based equipment, the redness, broken capillaries, and enlarged blood vessels can often be reduced in only a few visits.
